Railson & Heidi Gil

developing Brazilian community, building the body of Christ

Christian missionaries in ParĂ¡, northern Brazil.

family_2007Railson, native to ParĂ¡, is called to developing projects which exemplify the Kingdom in practical ways, specifically through communications development and digital integration (that is, making computer technology available to disadvantaged classes). Heidi is a pediatric nutritionist and English teacher from Oregon, USA. She enjoys putting the Gospel into practice as she counsels nutritionally needy families. Our gifts bring us into contact with people of all levels, which often leads to house visits and impromptu gatherings around the Bible. We love it when God surprises our unsuspecting visitors with the tangible sense of His presence! Here you will find our current and past newsletters as well as photos of our family and region. Have fun exploring our site!

We have become quite fond of our new surroundings in the last six months. Monte Dourado offers many advantages for a young family such as ours: treated water, swimming lessons (among other community activities), public transportation and adequate schools. What’s more, our new church (Igreja Fonte da Vida) offers us many new opportunities to minister, reviving our ministry vision of earlier years. We find ourselves pulling teaching resources out of moving boxes and old filing drawers, giving them a good review and passing on the information through teaching and sharing times. Everything seems so relevant and aplicable again!

At the moment we are drawing much from old teaching tapes on finances and kingdom living, in a way such as to bolster the church, which is going through a time of re-structuring. We have also incorporated teachings from a variety of sources, including Dutch Sheets, Ernest Gentile, Naomi Dowdy, Graham Cooke, Bruce Fidler and JD Henderson in our recent messages. The young adults are currently benefitting from a short series on spiritual gifts, based on the Wagner-Modified Houts Questionnaire which we have translated for this purpose.

By way of explanation, we are not working directly with a Vineyard church in Brazil due to the fact that there is not a Vineyard currently in Monte Dourado. Our committments with the ISP and radio project (which is still in the first stages of development) and the need for Heidi to work part-time outside the home makes us momentarily unable to head-up a church plant. Nonetheless, we are grateful for the church body the Lord has joined us to, especially in that we are free to minister in the spirit and style we have come to love with Vineyard, and are able to make significant contributions to the leadership.
